Welcome to Sharjah Maritime Academy (SMA), established under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the Academy. His Highness’s vision recognises maritime education, training and research as important contributors to sustainable development and to strengthening Sharjah and the UAE’s position within the global maritime sector.

SMA is developing at an accelerated pace, expanding its academic programmes, professional maritime training, applied research and international partnerships in response to a rapidly evolving industry.
Our approach combines academic knowledge with practical experience, advanced simulation technologies and industry engagement to prepare highly competent maritime professionals for careers at sea and ashore.

Looking ahead, our focus extends to the forces transforming the maritime sector; from artificial intelligence and digitalisation to sustainability, maritime safety, resilient supply chains and smart maritime systems. Through collaboration with government, industry and leading maritime institutions worldwide, we aim to ensure that our education and research remain relevant, applied and connected to real industry needs.
