Summary

Summary:
Promotes safe working practices and positive shipboard relationships. This course is mandatory for every prospective seafarer in order to meet minimum standards of competence in safety familiarization, basic training and instruction in personal safety and social responsibilities. The course is designed to prepare new recruits for life on a ship at sea where they will experience significantly different living and working environment compared to shore base living and working. This course also incorporates the latest amendments as per Resolution MSC 560(108) relating to violence and sexual harassment against seafarers.

STCW Competencies:

  • Comply with emergency procedures
  • Take precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment
  • Observe safe working practices
  • Prevent pollution
  • Contribute to effective communications on board
  • Contribute to effective human relationships onboard ship
