IMO Model Course 1.26

Summary:
This course aims to facilitate training that meets the mandatory minimum standards of competence and relevant requirements in the restricted operator’s certificate for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). This is in accordance with the STCW Convention and Code, the Radio Regulations, and the STCW-F Convention and Code, and covers operation of short range GMDSS equipment for distress and safety communications.

STCW Competencies:

• Transmit and receive information using GMDSS short range equipment and fulfilling the functional     requirements of GMDSS
• Provide radio services in emergencies
